CEO & Co-founder
Born in Taiwan, raised in Australia and now calling California home, Norman is a published computer vision author, former Ph.D researcher in the field of cognitive psychology, university lecturer, VR industry figure head and seasoned tech entrepreneur. Norman also loves to cook michelin-grade, international cuisines to keep the team at Glassbox well fed (although he won’t tell us how he came by these cooking skills). When he’s not doing that, he channels his passion and diverse skill set into growing successful tech businesses from the ground up. A passionate and knowledgeable advocate for interactive storytelling, Norman can often be found debating the merits of competing tech over an excellent, homemade shakshuka.

Originally from Mexico City, Mariana’s been at home in Los Angeles for just over a decade, entrenched on the front line of VFX post production. A technologist, VR & AR pioneer and entrepreneur, veteran pixel pusher, software creative and business development leader, and Variety magazine top 10 innovator. Mariana loves to surf and geek out, sometimes even at the same time, and when she’s not doing that she’s making software tools for Virtual Production to transform the way filmmaking is done today. A force to be reckoned with, Mariana is a champion for women working in technology, who’ll most likely be found charming an audience from the stage of a tech event near you.
Chief Sales & Marketing Officer
Originally from the UK, Philippa’s lived in more countries than we’ve got word count, and now works remotely from her home in Mexico City. With a degree in business, and many years spent leading sales, marketing and product teams for cutting-edge tech and software companies in VFX, imaging and games, Philippa combines her tech and business smarts to keep our customers happy and our business deals in check. In her spare time, Philippa loves to paint (although she won’t show us any of her creations) and when she’s not working on her latest canvas you’ll most likely find her talking shop with any one of our lovely clients, over a well brewed cup of tea.
Chief Technology Officer
Originally from Texas, Andrew’s been an LA native for the last decade. Starting his professional life in the world of fine art, Andrew quickly shifted focus to CG for video games, became a veteran lecturer, and earned an MS in Computer Graphics Technology. Having written his first renderer whilst at University, Andrew moved on to write automation pipelines for production, develop virtual stage production toolsets and most recently write a real-time lightfield renderer - just for fun (just kidding - just for the Holochip Corp). By day Andrew combines his creativity and deep technical know-how to CTO our products together and by night you’ll find Andrew using his fine art training to illustrate hidden worlds and adventures for children’s books.
Glassbox (formerly known as Opaque Studios) spun off from the award-winning, VR development and consultation studio, Opaque Media Group in August 2015 to become a dedicated software product company to service the needs of studios using advances in real-time production to create higher quality visuals, faster.
Shortly after, alongside technology partners Epic Games and Faceware Technologies, Glassbox’s Live Client for Unreal technology enabled Faceware Technologies and Epic Games to showcase, for the first time, the ability to use game engines to output, in real-time, full-body and facial performance capture with production level quality.
